Guard Card Training
The “Guard Card” course is the initial 8-hours of training an individual needs to take in order to become a registered security guard in the State of California.
The course is an 8-hour lecture, split into two sections; (1) the Powers to Arrest, and (2) Appropriate Use of Force.
At the end of the lecture you will take a multiple-choice test.
Once you have completed the course you will receive a certificate of completion, and your next step in the process is to get a Live Scan for a criminal background check. For your convenience, we provide Live Scan services on site, and you can add it to your appointment at the time of booking.
Lastly, you will need to submit your actual application. We recommend that you do it online for faster processing.
We can complete the entire process in a single day, and our instructors can assist you with the entire process to ensure you application goes through correctly.

BSIS Firearms Training
Security Guards wanting to carry an exposed firearm while on duty must first (1) pass a psychological evaluation conducted by a third-party vendor (PSI Exams), (2) sign up for and complete the Initial Exposed Firearms training course, (3) submit your fingerprints using Live Scan for a background check, and (4) submit the application to BSIS.
The course is a 16-hour course split into two sections; (1) an 8-hours classroom lecture, and (2) range training. At the end of the classroom lecture, you will take a 52-question multiple-choice test, and at the end of the range training you will go through a 50-round firearms qualification course-of-fire.
Once you have completed the course you will receive a certificate of completion, and your next step in the process is to get a Live Scan for a criminal background check. For your convenience, we provide Live Scan services on site, and you can add it to your appointment at the time of booking.
If you currently do not have a firearms to use, we have firearms for rent.
Ammunition is also available for purchase. Add either firearm rental and/or ammunition purchase at the time of booking.
Lastly, you will need to submit your actual application. We recommend that you do it online for faster processing.

Keep your exposed firearms permit current.
Armed Guards must complete an additional 2-hours classroom refresher & a 50-round qualification per caliber twice a year.
The classroom lecture will take place at our office.
Range qualification will take place at a local range.
You are welcome to bring your own firearm and ammo.
Firearms rental and ammo purchase are also available for purchase.
BSIS Firearms Qualification
HOW TO USE THE SCHEDULE:
STEP 1: Subtract 2 from the expiration year on your permit.
STEP 2: Find the expiration month on your permit on the left column.
STEP 3: Follow the schedule paying attention to when you cross into the following year.
Each range qualification window is two months. Be sure to complete it within the time limits to ensure seamless renewal process.
CCW: San Diego County
Initial Training (16-hrs)
The CCW initial training is a 16-hour course. The course is split into an 8-hour classroom lecture and an 8-hour range training portion.
Day 1: Classroom Lecture
The classroom lecture will cover several topics, including:

Penal Codes & Self Defense Laws
CCW Restrictions
Mental Health & Resources
Firearms Safety & Shooting Fundamentals
Firearms Handling and Manipulations
Written Exam
Day 2: Range Training & Qualification
The range training portion will be spent at the range applying the techniques and lessons learned in the classroom to live firearms. The range training will go over the previous days lessons in further detail with live demonstrations. Students will over:
Drawing the firearm from the concealed position
Applying the shooting fundamentals
Loading & unloading the firearm
Clearing malfunctions and troubleshooting

CCW: San Diego County
Renewal Training (8-hrs)
The CCW renewal training is a 8-hour course. The course is split into a 4-hour classroom lecture and a 4-hour range training & qualification portion. This course is meant to:
Refresh your mind with important topics regarding the carrying and usage of a firearm as a responsible armed citizen; &
Refresh and practice firearms handling and manipulation techniques critical to a self-defense encounter.
